Friday the Thirteenth Unlucky for Me

Happy Friday the 13th! Or so I Thought…

Oh my favorite day, how did you do this to me? Well guys today’s post is going to be a little different than usual and we are going to have a bit of story time. A quick thing about me is my favorite number is 13 and Friday the 13th is one of my favorite days of the year. I just like to see the beauty in things that might normally be depicted as weird or bad. Hence, why I ended up adopting a black kitty. So for this year, I was really excited to go to a Nightmare Before Christmas Event on December 13th and was going to share with you guys about the event. Well as you can imagine, not everything turns out the way it seems…

You might have read in October how I went to a Tim Burton themed festival. After attending the festival, I was notified the organization who put the event together decided to throw a Nightmare Before Christmas Friday the 13th party, since Friday the 13th landed in December. I thought perfect, I want to go. Last time there were vendors who had some really cool merch that most of them made such as buttons, hair bows, paintings, posters, illustrations and more. I wanted to purchase some more stuff this time for my collections and knew I had the perfect outfit for the event. Therefore, I texted my photographer, asked “hey we are going to this, right?”, bought the tickets and was ready to go. Then the day came.

I woke up finally well rested after having weeks of no sleep. I’ve had a lot on my mind both good and bad that had been keeping me up so much, I had take some melatonin pills and bring in my cat to scare off negative energy. Those actually worked and I fell into a deep sleep with no nightmares or bad thoughts. With that being said, I thought great, maybe today will be a good day and I can finally have some fun. I have a usual routine everyday which involves working for a bit, going through emails, doing anything I need to for this blog, feed my kitty, and my skincare routine before getting dressed or ready for the day. So typically I tend to move really fast and run all over the place so I can get things done. Not Friday though. Oh no, I was taking my time for the day. No computer work, I slept in, fed the cat of course and did my beauty routine, but I was completely relaxed. I even made some breakfast and watched a couple episodes of Lizzie McGuire.

Then at a reasonable hour, I decided to start getting dressed for the event. Now typically when I have to get dressed for anything or any photoshoot, it takes me about 2hrs on average to shower, hair, makeup, and everything. This time I knew it would take me longer so I left myself plenty of time to take my time and experiment with my makeup. About halfway through of getting ready, I recieved a text. Oh the dreaded text. I knew my photographer had been working a lot of hours for his job and traveling so I was worried someting might happened. Sure enough, he lets me know that he is in Dallas which is a five hour drive from where I am, but he is taking a flight that should be landing around 8. Not the best news, but I was like that’s alright since the event goes on until 1 a.m. giving us plenty of time to still go check things out and shop at the vendors. All is still good, right? Sigh, I wish.

Thinking everything was alright, I continued getting dressed which indeed took about 3 hours to do. I stayed calm though because I thought everything would be alright. I have to admit though, back up plans were circling my head because I am huge problem solver and always look for a solution. Glad I did because as you can expect my photographer didn’t get home til near midnight thanks to plane troubles and delays. So no event, didn’t go out and it ended up being a bummer for the both of us. Oh well, it happens. For once the unluck of Friday the 13th gloomed over me and ruined my plans, but it is okay.

I worked really hard on my makeup and look which as tiring as it is, it’s good practice for me. I didn’t want it to go to waste, so I grabbed my tripod, went out, and took some quick pics for you guys to see. Then I finished the night off with some Whataburger and Dr. Pepper shake and all was not lost. It didn’t turn out as expected, but I didn’t let it let me down. There will be other opportunities and events in the future so no need to fret over anything. It turned out my cat was having a particularly good day and decided to snuggle and sleep me with all night so like I said, look at the brighter side. Maybe next time on Friday the 13th, I’ll keep it simple and go get another tattoo. 😉
